Cher’s new song for the new HBO documentary “Cries from Syria” has been released. The song plays on the closing credits of the documentary with Cher belting out the chorus “Prayers for this World” along with a child’s voice.

The song was written by Diane Warren especially for the film. “Syria’s ‘lost generation’ needs to be heard,” says filmmaker Evegeny Afineevsky, “and this film provides them with a collective voice.”

In other news Cher has stopped working on her new album indefinitely to concentrate efforts on a political motivated documentary on the Flint Water Crisis for HBO & her campaign against the president of the United States Donald Trump. Spending most of 2016 unsuccessfully rallying for Hillary Clinton the ageing Diva has now returned to Las Vegas to perform for casino patrons. She is very proud of her new show having designed new costumes along with a new set list to excite patrons.

What do you think of the new song??

The audience may have needed to double check their tickets as Cher made her grand entrance miming Woman’s World… looking more like a Diana Ross “look a like”.   Wearing a revealing blue sequined gown with huge black afro, the diva descended on a recycled Dressed to Kill Tour prop. Cher mimed most of the song and walked from side to side with basic choreography and at some stages fist pumping the air pretending Donald Trump was in the audience as she sang Strong Enough. Cher opened her show with the same opening songs from her prior Dressed to Kill Tour.

Cher then wheeled out a carbon copy routine from the Farewell Tour riding an elephant prop miming All or Nothing and Gayatri Mantra opening.

A bit more déjà vu and Cher walked around the stage wearing the same costume from her Farewell Tour singing All I Really Wanna Do followed by her classics The Beat Goes On and I Got You Babe with the legendary Sonny Bono on the big screen.

Cher also performed Gypsies Tramps and Thieves, Dark Lady (same costume as Colosseum) and Half Breed (same costume as D2K & Colosseum) Welcome to Burlesque (same costume as D2k), Take Me Home (Same as Colosseum), After All riding a gondola (costume similar to D2K), Walking in Memphis & The Shoop Shoop song (similar costume to Farewell Tour with baggy jeans).  Choreography and props all similar to prior tours.

Later in the evening Cher donned her Turn Back Time outfit (same as last 3 tours) to sing I Found Someone followed by Turn Back Time.  This old girl certainly has this routine down pat after doing it so many times in the same order.  1, 2, 3 shuffle feet, move left, move right.

Finally Cher wore the same costume as D2K Tour to sing Believe, miming parts of the song while waving to the crowd.

Overall Classic Cher was a rehash of her prior 3 concert tours and die hard fans might be disappointed at the lack of new content.  If you have seen all her shows on DVD and in person save your money because not a lot of imagination or thought has gone into creating new exciting content, mixing around the setlist or adding new songs.  If you love “Classic Cher” same ole, same ole then go for it and enjoy her while she can still do it at age 70.

Fans of award-winning singer & political activist  Cher aren’t going to be disappointed at the glitz and glamour that she’ll serve up in her new Las Vegas residency starting Wednesday night at the new Park Theater at Monte Carlo.

Cher will dazzle in 12 extravagant costumes mostly borrowed from prior tours for her new show “Classic Cher.” Legendary designer Bob Mackie will fly in Monday for final tweaks ahead of the midweek premiere. Cher also is putting final touches on the production in last minute rehearsals. In between spending time on the political campaign trail for Hillary Clinton, organising political protests & unleashing Trump tweets, she has found time to create a never seen before “Woman’s World” opening number, and at one point, she will amaze fans with something new…. sitting atop a life-sized elephant puppet wearing an East Indian outfit.

“I had the opportunity to catch a few minutes of rehearsal, and the staging is spectacular. As you would expect, Cher has created an incredible production that not only will showcase her hit songs, but also will utilize all of the theater’s technical elements.

“You have never seen Cher like this,” said Park Theater Executive Director and General Manager Daniel Bernbach. “We are excited about welcoming one of the greatest entertainment icons to Park Theater for a special extended engagement.”

“There will be plenty of flesh through the mesh,” Bob told me with a little laugh Thursday morning. “All classy and polite, but very sexy for the ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ number.”

Cher will wear bell-bottoms from her 1960s hit beginnings and maintain her iconic looks through the decades as a half-breed Native American and for a big-surprise disco number.

“It’s funny, but she’s never actually worn that to perform. But everything for the new Las Vegas show falls into that category,” Bob added.

There are costumes that Cher wore in her Farewell Tour and Believe tour that she didn’t manage to wear for her last “Dressed to Kill” Tour, which stopped at MGM Grand Garden Arena with Cyndi Lauper. An exciting video montage will keep fans engaged while Cher changes costumes.

Said Bob: “She’s very excited about this new Las Vegas show. She’s feeling well and in great shape — slim and gorgeous. She always gets a great reaction from her amazing audiences who cover every age bracket.

“She has young kids to adults our age and drag queens. Cher has this amazing charisma that connects with everybody. She simply fascinates people. She is the epitome of showbiz, and you don’t ever forget her. For this show, you never lose her for a minute.”

Cher is set to sing all her classic songs including Believe, Strong Enough, Turn Back Time and a Medley of old hits.

Cher Las Vegas Last Show

Cher’s “farewell” celebration seems an endless exercise. The entertainment legend actually surpassed the 10th anniversary of her “Living Proof: Farewell Tour” last year. In the years in between, she stopped by the MGM Grand Garden Arena on her 2014 “Dressed to Kill” tour and performed a three-year residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.  Buy Cher Tickets, best seats in the house!

But now, Cher, a fiery 70 years old, is serious, insisting that the run of just-announced “Classic Cher” performances at the Park Theater at Monte Carlo will cap her career as a live performer. The set of 18 shows opens Feb. 8 at the 5,300-seat venue and runs through May. 25, with more dates to be added.

“This is the last show, and we are going to give people something they want to see,” Cher said during a phone conversation as she drove the Pacific Coast Highway to her home in Malibu, Calif. “I’ll sing all my biggest hits. I’ll present them in a way that is memorable, with new technology, computer-generated images on the big screens, and people will be overcome by the production.”

And a Cher production requires a parade of costume changes. Expect another wardrobe parade at Park Theater.

“I’ve done that since my first solo show in Las Vegas,” she said. “I did it even though people put me down so badly. I really have had a love-hate relationship with Las Vegas over the years.”

Cher has been vocal about vociferous in her dissatisfaction with her shows at the Colosseum. “It was terrible for me. I felt I put on a really good show, but the audience did not get the benefit of that show,” she said. “The Colosseum is not conducive to standing and dancing. It’s really more like an opera house, and I felt people didn’t have the freedom to have a good time.” She has been updated on the plans for The Park Theater and says, “From all the specs I have seen, this will be a high-energy place.”

Cher said she’s had a great time performing Grand Garden Arena over the years, developing a strong relationship with many of the MGM Resorts officials responsible for luring her to The Park Theater. She also fondly recalls her earliest shows in the city, recording a live double-album at the Sahara in 1974, then moving into Circus Maximus in 1976 for her debut as a soloist.

“Sonny and I were supposed to play Caesars (at the Circus Maximus showroom) together and it was going to be a really big deal,” Cher said. “Then we broke up, but I came back and did it. It was a dinner show, and they can be kind of a pain because people are eating … but it was really, really fun.”

Cher did break the conversation to ask about how the presidential debates played out in Las Vegas. I asked if she had watched.

“Oh, hell no. I couldn’t. I took a bath instead,” she said. “I couldn’t watch any of them.” She has fired on Donald Trump on Twitter and says, “I’ve used my Twitter to show my anger and frustration and a pain, deep pain I almost can’t bear sometimes … I just don’t understand how a person like Donald Trump could be steps away from the presidency.” By the time she returns to Las Vegas, the new president will be sworn in and Cher will be the second resident headliner — after Bruno Mars — to play Park Theater.

“I hope there will be enough things that people will be excited to see,” she said, “and I hope we create some sort of magic.”

Cher James Corden Sing Live

Cher joined James Corden Thursday night to sing “I Got You, Bae,” a modernized version of her classic 1965 hit with Sonny Bono “I Got You Babe,”. “I’m going to do one of my favorite songs tonight,” the singer told the crowd. “But I want to do it in a different way.”

Corden strolled out onstage dressed, awkwardly, as Cher. Tossing around a black wig, he noted that Cher playing herself was “a bit obvious.” The two Chers filled their funny duet with lyrics about love in 2016 aimed at millenials, exploring topics like “Netflix and chill,” deleting Internet porn history and making a relationship “Facebook offish.”

“They say we’re young and we don’t know/ How to find love without using your phone,” Cher crooned. “I don’t know if all that’s true/ ‘Cause you swiped me and, baby, I swiped you,” Corden replied.

In a sit-down interview with Corden, Cher admitted she didn’t initially like “I Got You Babe,” written by her musical and romantic partner, Sonny Bono.”I was sleeping,” she said. “We bought a piano for $82 that only had a couple of broken keys. And we had only furniture for the bedroom, and he used to have a piano in the living room. He used to write, and he’d wake me up and go, ‘Cher, come here, I just need you to sing this,’ which I never wanted to do. So he was writing, and he said, ‘Cher, I want you to come here and sing this.’ I said, ‘Sonny, I’m embarrassed.’ He said, ‘Cher, Jesus, it’s just me.’ It was ‘I Got You, Babe.’ And I went, ‘I’m going back to bed. This is just nothing.’

“It was on the piano. It just sounded like … I don’t even know. Just really not a hit song,” she continued. “But I said the same thing about [1989 solo hit ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’] … Because Diane Warren did the demo, and it was terrible. And I love her, as much as I love her … Finally, she said, ‘I’ll pay for it.’ And if you know Diane Warren, that’s a big [thing]. I said, ‘OK, babe, if you’re gonna pay for it, you have to believe it in so much – I’ll do it.’ Two takes, that was it.'”

Modern love — it’s just so charming.

Watch the pair bring down the house with their adorable rendition, complete with updated lyrics: “When I text you an eggplant, you’ll send me a nude on Snapchat.”

Cher is currently on a promo tour for her new classic Cher concerts. You can buy tickets to the Classic Cher Las Vegas concerts below..

Lyrics of Cher & James Corden “I Got You Bae”

CHER:
They say we’re young and we don’t know,
How to find love without using your phone.

JAMES:
Well, I don’t know if all that’s true.
Cause you swiped me, and baby, I swiped you.

TOGETHER:
Bae,
I got you bae.
I got you bae.

JAMES:
When I text you, an eggplant,
You’ll send me a nude, on Snapchat.

CHER:
And when we make it, Facebook “offish,”
That means more to me than marriage.

JAMES:
When I watch porn, when I’m all alone,
I’ll delete the history, before you come home.

CHER:
And when we fight, and I get revenge,
By posting a pic of me with my ex-boyfriend.

TOGETHER:
Bae,
I got you bae.
I got you bae.

JAMES:
I got you as my date.

CHER:
I got you to sext me late.

JAMES:
I got you to Netflix and Chill.

CHER:
I got you covered ‘cause I take the pill.

JAMES:
I got you always in my head.

CHER:
I got you to try that thing in bed!

JAMES:
I got you, to do this sketch!

CHER:
And I got you in that ridiculous outfit!

TOGETHER:
I got you Bae.

She’s a pop icon who’s entertained fans for over 50 years, and we have good news for those fans: At 70, Cher is not slowing down yet.

In fact, she plans to hit the road and take the stage again next year for a show filled with the glitzy costumes and powerful performances she’s known for.

“I didn’t want to be finished,” Cher told Maria Shriver during a Wednesday morning interview on TODAY. “I didn’t want to be through with singing, and I knew that this would probably be the last time. My voice is still really good. I’m still active and running around. I can still fit into my costumes.”

“I thought that this is probably … it’s now or never,” she added.

Cher Today Show

While she isn’t letting the years hold her back, she also admits that she’s having a bit of trouble accepting her age.

“I look in the mirror, and I see this old lady looking back at me — I have no idea how she got there. If I put 70 candles on my cake, I would blow my brains out, you know?” she said.

But to the rest of us, the superstar seems ageless — no matter the decade, she’s still Cher.

Cher Today Interview

“I’ve never really been in love with Cher. She’s all right, but I’m not a huge fan…I’m not a Cher fan,” she said. “I just don’t know how to accept [my age]. I don’t want to either – but I don’t really know how to. I look in the mirror, and I see this old lady looking back at me. And I have no idea how she got there.”

She is, however, a fan of returning to the stage — and to the Las Vegas Strip — for “Classic Cher.”

But even getting the opportunity to return to a big gig after a certain age is out of reach for many women in entertainment, and the Oscar winner has some advice for her peers.

Cher on stage

“I say you have to be like a bumper car and you hit the wall, and you back up, and you go a different way — and then you go at the wall again,” Cher insisted. “The only thing I know is not to give up. I don’t know anything else.”  – Source Today

Cher Las Vegas Last Concert

Its difficult to believe that after 200 shows, superstar Cher ends her 3 1/2-year run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace tomorrow night, having achieved nearly $200 million in ticket sales. It was in May 2008 when Cher descended onstage for the first time from the ceiling in a glittering gondola, a Jules Verne flying machine that nightly signaled and now for something completely different..

Cher was a loner in Las Vegas, preferring to commute back to her Malibu home. Although she rented a house here for a time, she wound up, like Sir Elton John before her, at the Palazzo suites at The Rio when she stayed in town. Cher was rarely seen — if at all — in nightclubs — and interviews she gave were few and far between.
There was a 1-hour sit-down onstage at Caesars when Oprah Winfrey also stayed at Caesars. Cher look-alike fans and Frank Marinos Divas Las Vegas attended the show, as many have, religiously the past three years, cooing over the Bob Mackie gowns she wore at every show.

rom I Got You Babe to Gypsies Tramps & Thieves to Believe, Cher has turned back time in her own way, singing hits that crowned her queen in more than five decades of hits. Last month, she became the only pop artist in history to have a No. 1 hit in six decades.
During her residency, we followed Cher through a biker romance, the sex change of her daughter Chastity (now Chaz) and the globetrotting to promote her latest film Burlesque. In recent days, shes been tweeting, decrying the fact that her Burlesque song You Havent Seen the Last of Me won a Golden Globe but was ignored by the Academy Awards!

Now, just like Bette Midler, Cher can claim big audiences during her entire run at The Colosseum, and celebrities have popped in to see the 64-year-old superstar and paid tribute with rare backstage meetings. Tomorrow nights finale should have an all-star turnout from Hollywood.

Cher departs a queen having conquered her empire, but it remains unknown what comes next. Shes said before that she wont sign on again for another long Las Vegas run. Shes said touring has played out. The guessing game begins Sunday morning after she leaves town.

Many thanks for all the years of hit songs, stunning Bob Mackie gowns and brilliant performances!

After almost 50 years in show business, two failed marriages and outrageous outfits that include a seat belt and fishnets in her If I Could Turn Back Time video and a super-sized mohawk at the 1986 Oscars, it’s only natural Cher has some regrets.

But, on a recent afternoon when the Oscar, Grammy and Emmy Award winner sat down for a chat in a Beverly Hills hotel, the regrets she lists have nothing to do with show business.

They also have nothing to do with seat belts, fishnets or mohawks, although one of her doomed marriages did play a part.

Cher’s regrets relate to sexual conquests.

“One is Marlon Brando,” Cher, giggling like a schoolgirl, reveals about her hot, but brief affair with the two-time Oscar winner.

Cher dressed down for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010.
“I regret not meeting him more.

“It was great, we had the best time, but I was trying to make my marriage work.”

The 64-year-old’s other regret lies with the sexual conquest that got away with the King of Rock.

In 1975 Cher was 30-years-old, starring in her own self-titled TV show and, out of the blue, Elvis Presley dialed her number.

Cher as Tess in her new movie Burlesque.
“He called me and wanted me to come up for the weekend, but I was just too nervous,” Cher, still laughing, says.

“I was about to do it, but thought ‘No, I don’t want to’ and then I regretted it.”

On a roll, it seems no topic is off-limits in the interview held at the Four Seasons Hotel, so another notch on her belt was apparently a young Tom Cruise, hooking up with Cher after his first big film, 1983’s Risky Business.

“How about Tom Cruise?” is the question.

“None of your business!” Cher replies, a smile across her face.

After listening to Cher talk so openly about Brando and Presley and scanning through her achievements, it is hard to believe she confesses to being shy.

Her singing-acting career is unparalleled, selling more than 100 million records and performing on stage in packed arenas, including her current run at the Caesar’s Palace Casino in Las Vegas where she will earn $US60 million for 200 shows over three years. Where players flock to not only see mammoth superstars, but also play pokies online and slot machines, gamble on blackjack and live it up in Sin City.

But, moments after revealing some bedroom secrets, she cites her shy side as one of the biggest misconceptions about her.

“I’m shyer than you could probably imagine,” Cher, conservatively dressed for her standards in a silver cropped jacket and black pants, says.

“When I was young, I couldn’t pick up the phone and dial information.

“I was too nervous.

“Today, I’m still unbelievably shy.”

Cher’s longtime friend, actor Stanley Tucci, who stars alongside her in the new al film, Burlesque, confirms the woman labelled The Goddess of Pop does have a timid, shy side.

“She is very self-effacing and incredibly shy,” Tucci says.

“It’s shocking when you see her in front of a camera or on stage, because you don’t expect her to be so shy away from the cameras or stage.”

Burlesque marks Cher’s first starring role in a film for just over a decade, and it is this shy side that is partly responsible for her Hollywood hiatus as she admits to going into a “scared” and “tortured” state before each film.

Cher also says she goes into a petrified state moments before she walks out on stage to sing to thousands of adoring fans.

“I never go on stage to sing with zest,” Cher confides.

“I go on stage with dread and trepidation.

“I like doing plays because there are other actors and there is the audience. At a concert, I always have to play to an audience by myself and ask myself ‘How am I doing? How am I doing?’.”

Burlesque also stars another diva, Christina Aguilera, actress Kristen Bell, Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane and professional ballroom dancer Julianne Hough.

Cher plays Tess, the tough-talking proprietor of The Burlesque Lounge, an ailing theatre performing nightly risque dance performances.

The film’s director, Steven Antin, pursued Cher to play Tess for several years, but was repeatedly rebuffed.

“There were many meetings,” Antin, a video director attempting to direct his first feature film, says.

“We had a meeting where she said ‘yes’. It was followed by a meeting where she said ‘no’.

“Then there was a ‘yes’, then a ‘no’, followed by a ‘yes’ and a ‘no’.

“I had models of the club made up and showed her clips of other movies and photography to demonstrate the hair and make-up we wanted to use.

“I even showed Cher the film stock I wanted to use.

“I just knew the movie was right for her and I was not willing to give up on her.”

Aguilera was also desperate for Cher, one of her idols, to be in Burlesque.

“As soon as I found out Cher was one of the potentials (to play Tess) I was like ‘Clint (Culpepper – president of studio Screen Gems) go after her and beg her. Tell her I’ll drink her bath water. Do anything. Just get her aboard’,” Aguilera said.

Then one day the lobbying paid off and Cher agreed to sign on and, more importantly, stuck to that decision.

“I had wanted Cher to be in the movie so badly I told her ‘You can sing in the movie if you want. Or you don’t have to sing. Whatever you want to do is fine’,” Antin, who also wrote the Burlesque script and had the Tess character singing just one song, recalled.

“Her manager called and said ‘Cher’s in! She’d love to do it, but she wants to do two songs’,” Antin said.

“I said ‘I’ve got the second song! There’s a great place for her to sing a solo.’.”

Born in the southern Californian desert city of El Centro, near the Mexican border, as Cherilyn Sarkisian, her early life was tumultuous, with truck driver father John Sarkisian and actress mother Jackie divorcing. Cher, whose name now appears on her passport as simply “Cher”, was placed in foster care as a child for a period and she left high school aged 16, discovering later she had suffered undiagnosed dyslexia.

“I was born Cherilyn, but nobody ever called me that. I was always called ‘Cher’,” she says.

In the early 1960s Cher met Sonny Bono who was working for super producer Phil Spector. Cher started as a backup singer for some of Spector’s artists, including The Righteous Brothers, and after a several unsuccessful solo recordings she teamed up with Bono as the duo Caesar and Cleo. They married in 1964, but it was not until 1965, with Cher aged 19 and Bono 30, they released their first album as Sonny and Cher, Look at Us, which featured the number one hit I Got You Babe.

They went on to star in their own TV specials and in 1971 a variety show, The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour.

The couple divorced in 1975 and Cher went on to a record-breaking career, including becoming the only woman to achieve top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 list the past four decades. She married rocker Gregg Allman in 1975, but they separated after just two years.

Cher is reluctant to pick what she deems to be the highlight of her career, offering: “I don’t think there’s such a thing”.

But, when pushed a little further, she cites the best actress Oscar win in 1988 for Moonstruck playing a widowed Brooklyn bookkeeper torn between her fiance, who she does not love, and his brother.

“If I was going to pick something it would be the Academy Award just because it meant an acceptance from my peers that was really an amazing night for me and a culmination of a lot of things that I hoped for,” she says.

With the 70-year-old age milestone not too far away, Cher is not ready to retire.

She will continue to go at her own pace, pick future projects carefully, just as she did with Burlesque.

“I don’t think I’m going any place yet. They’re going to have to carry me out feet first,” she says.

“I just like what I do and I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t.

“Sometimes you have to do stuff for a living and to take care of your family. But I’ve never done a job, well it may not be the actual truth, but mostly I’ve never done a job that I hated. I have tried to like everything I have done.

“As artists we’re always striving to keep doing something. If you’re an artist, you want to create.
“When people say to me ‘You have achieved everything. Why do you keep working?’ my reply is ‘Did someone say to Picasso: ‘You’ve done enough paintings, you painted every day, how long you’re going to keep doing it?’.”

Burlesque opens in Australia on January 13.
