Cher helps pay $1.875M for Malibu home for her sister and brother-in-law
Cher, her sister, and her brother-in-law together have paid $1,875,000 to purchase a two-story house with ocean views in Malibu, Calif., according to public records.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report that the 60-year-old mega-entertainer’s Inshallah Trust is on the deed to buy the 2,619-square-foot house at 20243 Piedra Chica Road in Malibu, according to public records. Built in 1966 and listed for $1,899,000, the four-bedroom house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and has three baths, a living room with a fireplace, a large grassy back yard with two patios, a formal dining room, a large media/family room, an upstairs guest suite with a deck and ocean views, and a master suite with a large bath and a huge private deck with ocean views, according to listing information.
Records show that Cher’s trust purchased the house along with her sister, Georganne Bartylak, and her husband, Ed Bartylak, who was reported in a January 1991 article in People magazine to have once been Cher’s director of security.
As for the diva herself, she owns a 13,126-square-foot mansion on a 1.72-acre parcel nearby, at 25142 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. She built that house in 1999 after buying the land in 1992, according to public records. In January 2007, the Los Angeles Times’ Ruth Ryon reported that Cher had auctioned off all the furnishings in that house and that the entertainer now is planning to completely redesign it. Previously, she had listed the house in 2001 for $25 million before eventually taking it off the market.
Cher also owns a 26th-floor unit in the Sierra Towers complex at 9255 Doheny Road in West Hollywood, which she purchased also through her Inshallah Trust in early 2006 from director Vincent Gallo, according to public records. Although no purchase price was disclosed in public records, Ryon reported in the Times that the unit cost about $4.5 million.
