Cher is making a comeback to TV screens with her republican friend Sonny Bono.
Digital oldies network getTV will air classic episodes of 1970s Sonny & Cher TV shows every Monday (8 p.m.) starting Sept. 12.
First up: Three weeks of the then-husband-and-wife singing duo’s first series, “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour,” which kicks off with its 1971 debut (guest: Jimmy Durante). That will be followed by episodes of “Cher” and “The Sonny & Cher Show.”
“The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” aired through 1974; it was followed by Cher going solo with “Cher” in 1975 and then, following Cher and Bono’s divorce, the couple’s last TV hurrah with “The Sonny & Cher Show” (1976-77).
All three series aired on CBS. Many of these episodes haven’t been seen on TV in over 10 years and may capture a whole new generation of viewers.
