Cher's FINAL Goodbye at the Hollywood Bowl

Cher's Final Farewell

Pop superstar Cher said her final farewell to fans in Hollywood on Saturday night when her four-year-long Never Can Say Goodbye tour wrapped up at the Hollywood Bowl. Her set-list included hits such as Song For the Lonely, The Way of Love, Believe, Jesse James and Heart of Stone.

Almost 40 years to the day after she first appeared at the venue with former husband Sonny Bono, Cher said goodbye to devotees with two sell-out shows on Friday and Saturday night. Telling the crowd this would indeed be the end of her 325-date “Never Can Say Goodbye” trek, the singer-actress joked that she hoped not to have to return to the stage in 25 years riding a rhinestone-encrusted Liberty Scooter. Cher, who turns 59 on May 20, added, “This is the last time – ’cause I’m approaching 80.”

The tearful singer/actress wrapped up the show in a Snow Queen-type gown after singing a medley of hits. At the end of the show, Cher brought her 100-strong crew on stage for a bow before fireworks blasted into the night sky and a sign lit up above the stage: “Follow that, bitches.”

Cher racked up close to $200m (155.5m) in ticket sales during the duration of the tour.

Ms. Cher, I have been one of your biggest for a long time from your TV show in the 60’s to your stage shows. When I feel low I play your CD In my car. I once saw you in AC with my 3 sister we had a wonderful time. You will be missed very much. Please take on day at a time.

Turning 70 in Dec. and know how hard it is to keep smiling at this time of life. You have been my all-time favorite since the 60’s. Saying that you will be missed is an understatement. I love your voice and your “This is Me!!!!” attitude. Thank you for being you, girl!!! My only regret in life is that I never got a chance to see one of your concerts—maybe I will after I get on the other side, in Heaven. Love Ya’ Girl!!!!

I have loved & followed you since I first heard of you. I am SO HAPPY about the LONGgggggggggggggggg career you have had in both the music industry & in film, I have seen every movie you have ever been in (I think ). I know you plan to retire but do you ever think of making guest appearances from time to time ? I live south of Pittsburgh & am originally from NW Penna a little town called Oil City. I was a child that was always picked on, kids said I was ugly & I was born with a handicap (Lymphadema- both legs, my right ankle swells & my left leg up to the knee, was called fat feet, peg leg, & a few other names. my maiden name didn’t help either with the teasing, Cann, got called Tin can, garbage can, trash can…. I have had a few close friends over the years that have stood by me, so at almost 64 they admire me for being who I am a grandmother & mother of 3 who rides a motorcycle when I can ( it needs work right now) & sang at a variety show to raise money for Meals on Wheels for seniors closed in who can’t get a hot meal during the week. I have always & always will admire you for the long road you have traveled…. You have a friend & fan in me even though we never met. I am now a Mom who is worrying about my youngest son who has an incurable cancer Leiomyosarcoma. Prayers are with you that you stay well.

    Dear Cher,
The most wonderful concert I have ever been to was in Montreal with my daughter. She just loved you so much, when you were that close we took the bus and went to see you. You had Cindy Lauper open for you. What a wonderful time we had. You are the best. Great memories for myself and my daughter.

Blessings Dear Cher-I grew up enjoying you as a talented, funny performer. I followed your metamorphosis to strength which I remembered in my days of weakness and loss. From those memories I too found myself & strength to be who I am today. I love my strengths, my humor & ability to care for myself. Your influence of nearly 50 years in my life has raised me up many times I am truly a Phoenix, strong, single, content & at peace within. May all these qualities be with you in your retirement. You are loved and will be missed. Thank you everso much for being you. You’ve given now it’s time to get for yourself. Enjoy & remember all you have sown will now reward you greatly I pray.
    In great appreciation,
    ~Lori~

I’ve been a Cher fan since the Sonny and Cher show. When I was a teenager, I was told I looked like her and I actually was in a talent show when I was Cher. I was disappointed when Cher canceled her show in Michigan this past year, I had 2 tickets. Can you come and perform for my friends and I privately? I love you Cher and I wish you all the best and I will still listen to your music. Olga
