Cher Cancels Vegas Shows due to Illness
It can now be confirmed that Cher has had to miss four performances this week due to illness. Industry experts believe that it adds up to a near $2-million loss.
Doctors told her not to work the Tuesday and Wednesday shows. She was “dark” and still sick on Thursday night and again last night — but hopes for her to return this evening (Saturday) were dashed when she was again advised not to perform.
Although no explanation of the illness has yet been released, Caesars Palace executives hope she will be able to keep her promise to return this coming Tuesday.
Here’s the official statement from the Concerts West producers at Caesars Palace sent to me late last night (Friday):
“We regret to inform you that Cher is ill and performances for Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28 have been cancelled.
Cher is expected to return to her previously scheduled performances beginning Tuesday, September 30. However if Cher’s illness continues there are rumours that she may end her Las Vegas run early.
Ticket holders for the cancelled performances have the option of a refund or exchange for upcoming Cher dates.

Hey Cher I hope that you get well soon, and will be able to come back in 2009. I was going to see you again in 2010 for my birthday. HOPE THAT YOU ARE GETING THE REST THAT YOU NEED CHER, I WOULD HATE TO SEE YOU HAVE TO CANCELL ALL OF YOUR SHOW IN 2009, AND EVEN WORSE ALL OF YOUR SHOWS IN 2010. That would be devastating to me.

Cher has cancelled her last shows in Las Vegas. The sad part is that they have not been telling the audience till 30 minutes before the show. There is a rumor going around that she is being treated for early signs of dementia. ( if this is true it is very sad and not something to make fun of). But allegedly.. the truth is poor sales. The Diva wont play for less than 60 % attendance!!!!!!!!!

Hi Cher, the news of your illness is devestating to all your ardent fans. However, I am sure it is more upsetting for your family and close friends and of course, you! There is going to be a lot of speculation and rumour surrounding your illness, and of course an utter load of rubbish in many respects. Do rest Cher, think about yourself here. As a totally brilliant performer, let’s face it you spent several years flying from one country to another, in several cases going back to the same place repeatedly to sold out audiences, doing your Farewell Tour. Now, you must think about YOU. Yes, you are going to have disappointed fans out there who have had to re-book their tickets or alternatively have their money returned to them. That is their choice. I am saving hard also to come and see you next year – hopefully, but will understand totally if ill-health prevents you from doing your shows. Get better Cher, keep your chin up, ignore the probable bad press and untrue speculation which of course you are going to get, and concentrate on YOU. Best wishes. Jan – U.K.

is it any wonder, she had a recent case of her Epstein Barr and then I read she has Asthma. so she is exhausted and can’t breath. I feel sorry for her because of her contractual obligations but if I were her I would cut my losses and take care of my health. You have worked hard and done just about everything an entertainer can do Cher it is time to slow down! to hell with those bitches and drag queens it time for you to put your health and your life first.

I think she is having problems with her throat/voice. I saw Cher’s show on 8/27 and she said she was having throat problems. (Cher-If you hear somebody sound like a duck during this performance, it’s me!) Bette Midler said in an interview that both she and Elton John have had throat problems since they renovated the stage. When Celine was on-stage, the floor was angled and some of her dancers were injured. They changed the stage to flat now, and in the process removed most of the humidifiers that Celine had installed to keep her vocal cords healthy. With fewer humidifiers, all of them have had vocal problems. Get well, Cher. I hope it’s just a throat infection and nothing more serious.

cher u poor thing!!! i went to ur concert on the 7 of september and we drove there to vegas from casper it took 12 hours and we got there & it was a totall blast until ur concert we went in to the place and sat in our seats in LL row left side (great seats) and the guy infront of us said that u wernt gonnna come and i thought in my head “yeah right” and one of the people that works at caesars said we had to leave and i was devistated so i turned around in my chair and started bahling and freaking out like oh my god this is not happening and i stayed in my seat 4 a while and kept crying. then my grandpy said that we needed to leave so i got up out of my chair and started walking up that ramp and started crying more and more and more 4 every step i took!!!
i walked out of the the place and everyone was out there and i freaked out. there were so many people on there phones calling people saying that u canceled ur show and that they didnt like u anymore but u are still my idol!!! 
everyone asked my if i was just dissapointed and all i could do was nod and cry and my grammy said that grown ups can put up with stuff like that but small young kids cant and remembered that i was 11 not 63 or 65 like my grammy and grandpy by the way they are the ones who took me and i thank them so much!!! we walked all the way fromm caesars to the excalaber were we stayed and the whole time for an hour and 15 minutes i cried the whole way there and kind of stopped when we got there and then called my mom and started crying again and then called my my other grandma and told her because it was my grandpas birthday that day and he died 4 years ago plus he was the one who got me into u and sonny. i was so sad to come back to casper but at ur store i got a blanket the sonny and cher show ultimate collection that lasted the whole way home, the very best of u cd,the program and i was gonna get the barbie but it was too much and u should so totally go on the next season of dancing with the stars and u get well soon and get lots of rest so u can go back to do ur show and u r the most wonderful beautiful diva ever!!!

Hey Disappointed – you are allowed your opinion just don’t be suprised if not too many people here agree with you !
The important thing is that Cher gets well and stays well….of course we’ll all be disappointed if she can’t perform as much but she deserve all our support for all the pleasure she has given us for so many years.

BITTERLEY DISSAPPOINTED. WE TRAVELLED ALL THE WAY
FROM LEEDS WEST YORKSHIRE ENGLAND TO SEE CHER IN LAS VEGAS. WE HAVE HAD OUR TICKETS BOOKED SINCE MARCH 2008. WE SAVED UP TO GO AND ARRIVED ON SUNDAY THE 21ST OF SEPTEMBER. OUR CONCERT NIGHT WAS THE TUESDAY 23rd.WE PAID GOOD MONEY AND AQUIRED GOOD SEATS.THE COLOSSEUM WAS FULL WE WERE VERY EXCITED,THEN 10MINUTES BEFORE CHER WAS DUE TO COME ON AN ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE AND THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED. WE JUST COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. THE ONLY REASON WE TRAVELLED TO LAS VEGAS AGAIN WAS TO SEE CHER AS WE WERE ONLY THERE LAST YEAR. WE TRIED TO GET TICKETS AGAIN FOR THE FOLOWING WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY BUT TOLD THEY WERE ALL SOLD OUT. WE WERE VERY SADDENED BY THIS BUT THERE WAS ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING WE COULD DO.WE ARE VERY SORRY THAT CHER IS ILL BUT TO TRAVELL ALL THAT WAY FOR NOTHING WAS A REAL LET DOWN. wendi and sharren leeds.

Your story is just so heartbreaking, I am so sorry this happened to you. I think if Cher couldn’t sing because of a throat problem, it would have helped to ease the disappointment if she could just get up there on stage and make an appearance so that people could say they saw her…basically that’s the greatest thrill (even if she was in her everyday clothes!) Even a question and answer session would thrill people since she has so many sassy and entertaining answers.
Guess that’s totally not doable, but an interesting thought. Hope you enjoy Las Vegas anyway and have a safe trip home. (I’d love to go there one day, never been and I live in the states!)

I have no sympathy for Cher. She is a professional and should begin acting like one. My sisters and I planned a trip across the country to see Cher. We bought our tickets months and months in advance and had great seats. We arrived in Vegas and checked out the theater. No one told us the show was cancelled or had been cancelled the night before. Cesear’s waiting until an hour before show time to let people know there would be no performance. By the time we found out we couldn’t get tickets to any other show. Cher in no longer a word allowed in my house!
