Cher cancels remaining 2008 Las Vegas Shows

Cher sick Las Vegas 2008

Early this afternoon, Cher, her doctors and executives at Caesars Palace made a tough official decision to cancel yet another weekend of shows. It was the third cancellation during the past two weeks and the second consecutive weekend that shows were canceled just hours before the curtain was due to rise. Cher will not appear tonight (Saturday) or tomorrow (Sunday); both shows have been canceled completely

I was told that as a result Cher will not now be returning to the Colosseum until early next year — and hoped-for performance dates will be announced later.

The producers of Cher’s show, AEG (Anschultz Entertainment Group), also revealed that the mystery upper repertory ailment that has felled the singer three times over the past two weeks is “asthma-related bronchitis.”

Cher, now 62, says that she’s really sorry the illness has forced her to quit the Caesars show schedules this year but looks forward to her return early next year. Its believed that the medical problem resurfaced again this weekend because “she had tried to please fans by returning too early into her recovery last week and it only aggravated the condition in a worse way.”

The superstar singer had been commuting between her Malibu home which is being sold and a home in Henderson she had rented here for her show dates at Caesars. She had also been contending with our desert dryness20 which caused her further throat problems while fighting the asthmatic related bronchitis.

In an official statement AEG officials noted: ” Ticket holders for the cancelled performances have the following options for exchange or refund:

*Ticket holders may exchange tickets for a future performance of Cher at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (subject to availability). To exchange for a future performance, ticket holders must turn in the actual tickets at The Colosseum Box Office, or call Ticketmaster (if that was the original point of purchase) at 1-866-510-CHER (2437).

*Those who purchased tickets with a credit card for the canceled performance will be automatically refunded. Those who purchased tickets with cash may present tickets at the original point of sale for a refund.

*Ticket holders will not need to redeem tickets for a refund unless purchased with cash at The Colosseum Box Office. Any cash transactions will only be refunded with the redemption of the original tickets. All credit card orders will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for purchase.

Cher, Concerts West/AEG and Caesars Palace apologize for the inconvenience that this causes ticket holders.

Please note that Cher, The Colosseum, Ticketmaster, Caesars Palace, and Concerts West/AEG Live are not responsible for hotel, travel or other expenses related to the ca ncellation of this performance.”

We all wish her a speedy and safe recovery.

I think it’s normal this kind of things happen, mostly when we got some age like Cher have. She have been doing this so long and like we can see her voice have been changing so much really! She is one human after all, i know its very bad people pay some money for see this super star and then shows are cancel. Well the last thing we can wish is for Cher get better and i am sure she will… And next year Fans would be pround to see her again on stage… She said somewhere she wanted to make this really fabulous, because can be the last time she will do it… Give a break to her ok, she deserve that too…

We flew to Vegas to see the show on Saturday, October 4th – we had 3rd row center seats. Talk about exciting. We got the call in the middle of the afternoon, infomring us that he show had been cancelled – and that she wouldnt be back until 2009. While we were EXTREMELEY bummed about the cancellation – we still had a blast, I mean, it’s VEGAS! All the best to Cher – and here’s to a speedy recovery.

  23. eric kerry Says:

I had a feeling when they said she was returning that it was too soon. The are rumors that it is more serious than just bronchitis or asthma. In any case Bronchitis and asthma are not conducive to singing, and the climate being what it is in Las Vegas leaves her with the only logical conclusion and that is to cancel this gig and move on. She is now of the age that she has to start thinking about things like this and consider slowing down or just retiring from the stage.

  24. CAT Says:

So happy that we got to see Cher at Caesar’s Palace on Saturday, May 24th. She was GREAT!
Cher, rest and take your prescribed meds so that you recover real soon.

  25. Janet Wilson Says:

Hey Cher, for goodness sake girl, do as you are told and REST. Asthma and Bronchitis are extremely serious and Asthma in particular, if not treated properly, can be life threatening. My 15 year old grandaughter who lives with me now has Asthma and the minute she starts to feel unwell or even slightly breathless or wheezy she has no alternative other than to take her medication and SLOW DOWN. While all your fans – me included – love to watch your totally breathtaking shows and sizzling performances, we would all much rather know you are alive and well and building up your health resources to come strutting back out onto the stage next year fighting fit ready to stun us all over again. Rest Cher, listen to your Doctors and GET BETTER!. Crikey, I sound more like your mother than a fan! Anyway, good luck with your health problems, have a long rest, relax and chill out. Best wishes. Jan – U.K.

  26. Debbie Says:

I went to Vegas to see Cher on Sat 10/04/08 from Ocean City NJ and show was cancelled. I was very dissapointed when i heard the news but more upset that something is wrong with her. Please get well soon you have a tremendous amount of fans that wish you well and love you so much. I hope when you get better you put Atlantic City on your tour list because i will be there.
    Love you Cher.
Get well soon and listen to the Doctors.

  27. Nick Says:

I was fortunate enough to see Cher on 10/1/08 after she returned from being ill the week before. She looked great, sounded great and put on an amazing show. However, she did drink a lot and it was very evident by the end of the show that she was truly exhausted. For all those who thought she wasn’t ill, trust me…her return back to the stage was way too early. Thank you Cher for being such a trooper…the show was everything and more.

  28. Miguel Says:

Ok….please…Cher….I´m sure you can have the best Doctor of the World….and now…you can the recording the new new album please……..for all people that love you….

  30. joanne alcock Says:

When people plan to see Cher and fly to Vegas, getting a call at home the day you are allready there just isn’t good enough!!!!!!!

  31. Burbubicha Says:

Saludos desde Puerto Rico!!!! Espero que Cher se mejore pronto para que vuelva a entretener a sus fans. Me gustaría ir el año que viene a verla. Cuidate CHER que como tu ninguna!!!!!

  32. joanne alcock Says:

travelling to Vegas to see Cher and have her cancel the same day, just is not good enough that we get our money back, Ceasars should be held accountable and something should be done for us. I will never stay at Cesars again, Venetian will be my hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. eric kerry Says:

I don’t think you can totally pin this on Ceasars. I don’t think they would just hold your money for the sake of it. If they waited to the last minute then they were waiting to see if Cher could go on. To just lay all the blame on Ceasers totally negates the Cher factor. I am not blaming anyone but it makes sense that maybe Cher was being attended to by her Physician and that Cher might have been waiting until the last minute not wanting to disappoint her fans and Ceasars of course wants her to perform. Cher is sick bottom line its not planned and nobody concerned gains from her not performing, obviously.

  34. nancy Says:

Just a quick hello to Cher we were hoping to see her in Vegas this Dec I did see her when she came to canada to Saskatoon venue It was sooo awsesome…. grew up listening and watching her on T.V I found out last yeart that a cousin of mine was traveling with Cher doing her Merchandise for the shows ?? So really would have liked to see her again Maybe next time in Vegas Take care and get better CHER so we can come see you perform again lol

  40. Melissa Potak Says:

    Cher,
I totally understand being sick and not being able to perform……but heads up do not give that news at 735….when the concert begins at 730…Ceasears could have announced more nicely.I am someone that paid 6500.00 for a charity and my own exspenses to see you.We are in the hole for 10grand,I am ok with it because it is for a charity, but will tell you feel kinda deflated,I have a 3 yr old at 46 and that was his prepaid tuition for college…unlike other ticket holders I do not get a refund….the best I get is come another time not likely alot of money,I hope you feel better….not trying to be vicious….but alot of money and was spent and we had another couple who spent the same. What hurts the most is you performed the next nite.It is hard to describe getting front row VIP seats and being so excited and you cancel,,,I get things happen…but then noone cares that we did this for a charitity in your name and we are empty.I know I am sounding selfish.
