Cher looks great 17 years on
Cher stunned audiences when she first donned her trademark black cut-out body suit 17 years ago.
And the singer looked equally as amazing as she took to the stage in the timeless lace and gem-encrusted outfit at the David Foster and Friends concert at Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas.
The 62-year-old was all smiles as she showed off her figure in the daring outfit, which includes thigh-high leather boots and suspenders.

She first wore the costume at the age of 46 at London’s Wembley Arena and fans at her weekend show were delighted as she showed that it really is possible to Turn Back Time.
However Cher has previously admitted that her she has had a little help maintaining her youthful looks.
She confessed to having a facelift, as well as procedures to improve her teeth and breasts, and has even described herself as a ‘plastic surgery poster girl’.
Cher says she felt pressure to look youthful in a bid to keep up in the highly competitive pop industry.
The singer, who with her then husband Sonny Bono made number one in Britain and America with I Got You Babe in 1965, continued to have chart success well into her fifties.
Her career won its biggest boost with the 1998 success of the song Believe.

She has said: ‘Everyone says I am terrified of getting old, but the truth is that in my job becoming old and becoming extinct are one and the same thing.
‘And becoming obsolete and useless is completely unattractive to me.’

i don’t like it!!! cher to me, was the SEXIEST woman that has ever lived in my opinion, she was amazing and that outfit and many more similar outfits made her look stunning in the eighties and early nineties but i don’t think she suits them anymore, mainly because she looks a bit overweight. yes, she looks better than nearly every other 60 something year old, but i just think that this one particular outfit makes her look a bit like she’s trying too hard. Again, don’t get me wrong because i love the woman, but this makes her seem a bit unattractive, because her body is not the same as it was. I’m going to seem like a sexist and superficial pig lol, but i don’t like fat Cher lol, especially with the double chin. hopefully, it’s just a case of bad photographs. by the way, i think it’s mainly the actual leather jacket that i don’t like, because that’s the thing that’s making her look like a drag queen lol, and possibly the wig, although i do understand that she can’t sing Turn Back Time in a dress, that wouldn’t seem right, unless it was a mini dress of course lol. ANYWAY, i thought she wore this outfit in 1987 in the I Found Someone Video?

i must agree with Daniel- i think she looks better in “clothes”-this outfit is a little bit inapropriate (it makes her look a bit odd). but no matter what i´ll always stay her big fan.

This is Cher big dilemma, how not to dress. Remember how she showed up at the Academy Awards in the Dark Vader outfit the year she wasn’t nominated for Mask. She is her own worst enemy when it comes to this sort of thing. it never helped her when she was a young lady and it certainly doesn’t add credibility now.

I have to agree with Daniel. I think she should change the way she’s been dressing for the past 40 years. The world will remember her as this flamboyant character whatever she else she does, so why not ditch the sequin and thong and wig and switch to some classy clothes.

OMG how can you be asking Cher not to be ‘Cher’???????? She is the sassy lady who gave women the courage and the nerve to be what and who they want to be. To be themselves and blow what everyone else thinks. How on earth can anyone ask for her to change just who she is? To be the age she is and STILL be able to look terrific, to have a brilliant figure, to be able to get out there and do umpteen costume changes without batting an eyelid. Goodness me, the outfits are who Cher is, she is stunning, she looks terrific and she proves it is perfectly acceptable to flaunt what you still have. What on earth would we all think if she started wearing high necked blouses for goodness sake? Yes she would still be Cher and yes of course she would still be a terrific singer and performer, but come on people, we all look to Cher and are awed by her outfits. She is never offensive in what she wears, just stunning. Go Cher, you are who you are. Oh and as to the classy clothes, when that lady is seen out and about in her private life, she does ditch the thongs and the sequins and looks terrific in whatever she wears, when she is performing, that is who she is. So Cher is just material? Cloth ? Outfits are just outer stuff. It’s artificial. Cher doesn’t need outfits to be Cher. Granted, her success owes a lot to her image, but clothes is just surface stuff. It’s her personality that defines her.
She is Cher whatever she wears, so she doesn’t need to keep wearing these oufits, especially if they don’t fit her so well anymore. I’m not advocating a complete switch, but she needs to tone it down. She still looks good, but she should be careful not to cross the “tacky” line.
Besides, I believe it is wrong to pin someone down into just one category. I would follow her even if she started to sing opera. Albums like Not.Com.mercial show a stripped side of Cher that I would like to see more of. To me, the sequin is just one tiny part of Cher, and I would like to see her develop the other sides more.

Because :
1/ Change is always good. Why keep doing the same thing when you can change? Explore new things ?
2/ Change is INEVITABLE to some extent. Cher’s physical appearance is changing and her wardrobe needs to change accordingly. She needs age-adjusted clothes now.
I am a big Cher fan, and I love the outfits, but it is for her own sake that she should drop these clothes now. She will just look ridiculous if she still dons them at 70 ! So better to stop while she can still more or less look good in them. That’s all I’m saying !

The fact of the matter is that Cher never earned credibility or was taken seriously based on a Bob Mackie gown or anything she did with Sonny. These are just the facts you can argue if you like but her history is well documented. I have practically every star or enquirer magazine from those days to prove it. Her star really started to rise with the Geffen albums and her film work that is when she got the respect she deserves. Right or wrong if you are a long time Cher fan you know what I am talking about. I have always felt that if Cher would just get out of her way sometimes she would be a lot better off. I use to feel sorry for her because I thought that she was being saddled with an image that was not fair or that did not take into account her talent. There are many artists who as good as they may be never recover from an image that completely destroys their credibility in the public’s mind, I could name several you probably never heard of. Cher through all her hard work and sheer determination was able to over come it. But stunts like this, this never ending farewell tour and having not had a hit record or film in years have done serious harm to her credibility and I am beginning to hear the crap about her that I use to.

Cher was once the queen of re-intention, as she went from hippy attire and black hair and fringe in the late 60′s, to bob mackie daring dresses and long black hair in the early 70′s, to disco and more flamboyant hair changes in the late 70′s, to the hugely outrageous in the early to mid 80′s, and to the rock chick and black curly hair in the late 80′s to an even more daring array of revealing outfits and predominantly red hair in the early to mid 90′s but that’s when she stopped having an image, and she started “turning back time” to her old images, and hasn’t really picked up a defining image since, so she keeps reverting to her most famous looks, such as outfits from the turn back time era. Also, she kept recycling clothes from her past around the early 90′s too!!! for example, she wore her 1988 oscar outfit during her Love Hurts Tour, and she wore her I Found Someone Outfit (the one this article is about) in her own fitness video!!!!!! i just think that she’s given up on trying to re-invent her image (and career by the looks of it) by recapturing her old images and relying on that to maintain a career without having to actually release anything. this was suitable for a farewell tour, as it was to look back at her amazing career, but if she wants to continue that career, she needs to pick up a new image to pick up her career. but at the age of 62, she will also have to dress more mature, as this is a little wierd to dress in barely any clothes. she sang turn back time in a non-revealing outfit during her Believe Tour so why not do that such thing again!!! just because it’s the song that had the music video that featured the leotard, it doesn’t mean she has to wear the same leotard over and over again!!! in my opinion, she should have said farewell to it at the end of her farewell tour. sorry for my very long opinion lol

The reason why she stated she was a “Plastic surgery poster girl” was simply because she has had her fair share of surgery done. she wouldn’t have called herself that if she had only had her nose, teeth and breasts done, because many hollywood stars have had all them things done, and so much more!

I think it is wrong to condemn someone who expresses their opinion and wrong to say that they are not a fan simply because they say negative things. I am a fan too, but it doesn’t mean I gave up on my freedom of speech nor my ability to have an opinion, formulate thoughts. Miguel, I saw the 2 hr self produced documentary (most of it anyway) about Farrah. I have to admit I was looking for Cher but that is because I had no idea Farrah was so sick. I thought her treatments in Germany were working! My aunt past from Cancer a few years back and looking at Farrah brought back some very sad memories. It really broke my heart when her son Redmond who is serving some jail time for drugs came to see her. He was all shackled in leg/hand cuffs but thankfully they removed them so he could go see her in her bedroom, at first she didn’t even seem to know him. Farrah is one hell of an actress and a very good human being, this is really such a tradgedy.

Incidentally do you know why Farrah has to go to Germany for alternative treatment? No it has nothing to do with FDA and the like, simply put the drug companies in the U.S. hold patents and so they are the only one’s who can do the research . In other words if your doctor is u.s. based and he or she wants to do additional research on his or her own they cannot, the only ones that can do the research is the company who holds the patent on the drug….yes folk’s they own our dna. Its amazing, well we are the only industrialized country that does not have single payor….why because our politicians are all bought and sold.
so keep watching your American idol they will be real happy to know you are none the wiser.

Stef je vais pas trop donner d’infos sur moi sur le net – who knows what lurks out there… J’habitais à Drancy avant. Maintenant je suis sous les tropiques. J’ai vécu un peu en Angleterre et je meurs d’y retourner. Quant à Cher ça fait depuis l’époque baroque que j’attends un nouvel album! Mes amis me demandent si Cher est morte ! Mdr! Céline avait bien réussi a sortir 2 albums pendant qu’elle faisait Vegas! Ça fait longtemps que je me suis rendu compte que si Cher a eu autant de come back, c’est parce qu’elle s’est condamnée elle-même avec ses absences prolongées. Elle rend sa carrière difficile en disparaissant comme ça, chaque nouvel album au lieu d’être simplement un album est un album come back et c’est bien plus risqué. Elle ne rajeunit pas, elle devrait les sortir à la pelle ses albums et ses films…

CHER is in secret talks to play a nightclub boss in CHRISTINA AGUILERA’s new movie BURLESQUE, according to new reports.
The Genie in A Bottle singer has signed on to play a burlesque dancer in her first big screen film, a musical about a small-town girl who lands a job dancing in a strip club while seeking fame and fortune in Los Angeles.
The project will be directed by actor/filmmaker Steve Antin, brother of choreographer Robin Antin, who founded the burlesque troupe-turned-girl band The Pussycat Dolls.
Eonline.com reports Cher is actively seeking the role of the club boss in the film.

Matty, I have to say I am not always happy with her choices but it does seem with this film and Drop out she is at least thinking of film again. And since she is no longer going to tour or so she says and the Vegas deal will end she really needs to be focusing on her film career unless she retires (god forbid) so its a start. Actually I like Cher in this part, the jackass movie is another story but if it gets her on screen, I’ll take whatever I can get.

Eric, I know a lot of people who think like you and are happy as long as Cher does something, regardless of quality. I personally would rather Cher stopped altogether than start doing cheap things. Like Marlon Brando did. It would just tarnish her career. I’m not saying that’s what is happening. I’m just saying her having been around for so long (her longevity) isn’t good enough a reason not to expect quality anymore -hell, there’s NO reason whatsoever not to expect quality from any artist!
But I too like would like to see Cher in as many movies as possible, and if it were up to me she’d release an album every year ! But I’ll just have to wait and see. So far she has never disappointed me. And I am sure she will make the right choices. So I keep my fingers crossed and will just have to wait and see exactly how good Dropout and Burlesque are. And the album she’s been talking about for years sounds exciting and exactly the kind of good music I like and expect from her. And of course, as with anything Cher-related : I CANT WAIT !

Matty, I never said I think Cher should do whatever. But this role is a perfect role for Cher, she loves playing the hard ass get in your face type, think Mask or Silkwood. Cher excels when she is given the role of a tough, no nonsense type of dame and I am sure that is why she is pursuing the role so hard. I think your issue is with Christina Aguilera. People laughed too at Cher when her name came up on the trailer’s for “Silkwood”, without even giving the script or the star a chance if they had their way Cher would have never made a film.

I was yesterday at her concert and b-day and she was so espectacular and she look so beatiful and everyone was staring to sing the happy birthday song to her 100 aniversary like she said

Eric, I don’t know exactly what my “issue” is, or who it is related to, but I don’t think it’s Christina! I think that even though she is branded as the other Britney, she is a wonderful singer, Britney isn’t fit to lick her shoes. Maybe I’m just a bit bitter when I think that Cher could have been with Meryl in this successful musical. …Oh well..spilt milk…

I have to agree with Daniel.also!..Though I know Cher wouldn’t care what I thought. She will wear her tits on her back if she feels like it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that those who feel like she should keep doing this are the same ones that said Judy Garland should keep singing until she croaked and never take time to rest. Cher is 63, we’ve seen almost all of her already. I don’t need to see any more. I would love to keep seeing her in great clothes not skimpy GET-UPS! We love you Cher, but come in from the rain and realize even sonny wouldn’t like this at this point
